STEPHEN MINISTRY

You don't have to carry your burdens alone.

STEPHEN MINISTRY—A COMPASSIONATE LISTENING MINISTRY

At different moments in life, all of us face situations that feel overwhelming or isolating. Stephen Ministry offers a safe, confidential space to receive emotional and spiritual care from a trained Christian caregiver who will walk with you for as long as support is needed.

A Stephen Minister may be helpful if you are experiencing:

  • Grief after the loss of a loved one
  • Hospitalization or ongoing medical concerns
  • Divorce, separation, or family strain
  • Loneliness, discouragement, or spiritual struggle
  • Unemployment or job‑related stress
  • Chronic or terminal illness
  • Life transitions such as aging, relocation, or recovery after an accident or disaster
  • Challenges surrounding birth, adoption, miscarriage, or infertility
  • Many other personal or spiritual difficulties

Stephen Ministry care is completely confidential. The identity of those receiving care—and everything shared—remains private.

If you think you or someone you know could benefit from Stephen Ministry, we invite you to reach out. If you have a friend, neighbor, coworker, or family member who may be in need of support, please share this wepage with them.

For those who feel called to serve — using your gift of compassionate listening.

God works through caring, compassionate people to bring hope and healing to others.

A Stephen Minister is a layperson who:

  • Is prayerfully selected for their gifts of caregiving and listening

  • Receives 50 hours of training in providing high‑quality, distinctively Christian care

  • Meets faithfully with one care receiver on a weekly basis

  • Offers presence, prayer, encouragement, and support during difficult seasons

  • Walks beside someone who is hurting as a caring Christian friend

If you are a good listener with a compassionate heart, you may be called to serve as a Stephen Minister. Training and ongoing support are provided by Stephen Leaders—trained leaders within our parish who guide and sustain the ministry.
