FIRST CONFESSION
"I came out of the Confessional more joyful and lighthearted than I had ever felt before."
— St. Thérèse of Lisieux
A Step on the Path to First Holy Communion
As children prepare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time, they are first invited to encounter Him in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. First Confession is an important part of preparation for First Communion, helping children learn to recognize God’s loving presence in their lives and to trust in His mercy. In this sacrament, they experience forgiveness not as something to fear, but as a gift that restores friendship with God and brings peace to the heart.
For families and children who have never been to Confession before, we invite you to visit our page on the
Sacrament of Reconciliation. There you’ll find a clear and gentle explanation of what Confession is, how to go to Confession step by step, an examination of conscience, and an Act of Contrition. Above all, Reconciliation is an encounter with God’s love and mercy—nothing needs to be hidden, and there is no reason to be afraid. God is always ready to forgive and welcome us home.
