HOLY MATRIMONY
God himself is the author of marriage.

A Sacrament of Covenant and Grace
Holy Matrimony is a sacred covenant by which a man and a woman freely give themselves to one another in a lifelong partnership of love. Established by God and raised by Christ to the dignity of a sacrament, marriage is ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of children. In the Catechism of the Catholic Church, marriage is described not merely as a contract, but as a covenant that mirrors God’s faithful love for His people. Through this sacrament, spouses receive the grace to love each other with a self-giving, faithful, and fruitful love.
Sacred Scripture reveals the divine plan for marriage from the very beginning. In Genesis, God creates man and woman for communion, declaring that the two shall become one flesh. Jesus affirms this teaching in the Gospel, reminding us that what God has joined together must not be divided. Saint Paul further deepens our understanding by describing Christian marriage as a sign of the profound mystery of Christ’s love for the Church. This spousal love is marked by sacrifice, mutual submission, and steadfast fidelity.
In Holy Matrimony, the love between husband and wife becomes a visible sign of God’s invisible grace. Strengthened by the sacrament, spouses are called to help one another grow in holiness, to persevere through trials, and to build a domestic church where faith is lived and passed on. Marriage, lived according to God’s design, becomes a powerful witness to the world of enduring love, hope, and the faithfulness of God.
Wedding Masses at Christ the King
Because Christ the King is a personal parish, we are able to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony for those who are part of our parish family. This means that either the bride, the groom, or one of their parents must be a registered parishioner.
If you are a registered parishioner of Christ the King, or the son or daughter of a registered parishioner, and you are preparing to be married outside of our parish, we invite you to reach out to us. We would love to support you, pray with you, and pray for you as you prepare for this beautiful vocation of marriage.
