Will you be a Catholic presence in Flint?
PRAYER | SHARE | REPAIR
There simply aren’t enough Catholics in Flint to reach the far edges of desperation, addiction, loneliness, and abandonment. There aren’t enough to bring the hope, opportunity, prayer, and faith needed to remind every person of their dignity and worth. Flint needs people of faith—walking the streets, knocking on doors, caring for the sick, visiting the imprisoned (many within their own homes), sitting with others in soup kitchens, and reaching out in simple, human ways: a smile, a listening ear, a prayer of hope. A presence that acknowledges each person’s humanity and shares the truth that deeper joy and lasting peace are found in Jesus Christ.
The Catholic Community of Flint is a unified group of Catholic parishes and oratories in Flint, Michigan—primarily St. John Vianney, St. Matthew, St. Mary, and St. Michael—and St. John Vianney School (pk-8), working together under the Diocese of Lansing to revitalize Catholic life and outreach in the city. Christ the King has partnered with the Catholic Community of Flint to pray for and work alongside the Sisters of the Servants of God’s Love, and many others, reaching out to those in great need.
There are so many ways to get involved and support our brothers and sisters in Flint.

In 2018, Bishop Earl Boyea entrusted the city of Flint to the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title, Mary, Mother of Flint. The following is a prayer from the monthly novena for Flint.
Mary, Mother of Flint, hear our prayer
As you watched over your son, Jesus, please now watch over those He has identified with Himself, the least of our brothers and sisters. Inspired by your motherly heart of compassion, may we respond to the needs, hurts, and concerns of Christ dwelling in the poor of our city. Amen.
Pray the monthly novena to Mary, Mother of Flint, for the people of Flint. Sign up here to receive monthly prayer intentions.
