FUNERAL MASSES
“Life is changed, not ended.”
—ST. AUGUSTINE
COMMENDING THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED TO GOD
We extend our heartfelt condolences to you and your family during this time of loss. We understand that planning a funeral can feel overwhelming, and we are here to support and guide you every step of the way.
Because Christ the King is a personal parish, the celebration of a funeral Mass is generally reserved for registered parishioners. Any exceptions must be approved by the pastor.
Arrangements and Planning
Funeral arrangements typically begin with the funeral home, which will help coordinate with the parish regarding the Mass or service. We encourage you to contact your chosen funeral home first. Our
Liturgical Coordinator
is then available to assist the family in planning the liturgical aspects of the service, including readings, hymns, and other elements of the Mass. To help you get started, we have compiled a list of suggested funeral homes below.
Funeral Procedures at Christ the King
1. Notify the Parish: Contact the Parish Office to let us know of the death and to request that the deceased be included in the intercessions at Sunday Mass. Email Us or call the office at 734-665-5040.
2. Pastor Notification: The Liturgical Coordinator informs the pastor.
3. Funeral Planning Meeting: The Liturgical Coordinator will reach out to the family to schedule a funeral planning meeting. The Funeral Planning Team includes a deacon, the Liturgical Coordinator, and the family representative(s). Together, the Deacon and Coordinator will help guide the family through the liturgical planning process.
