Family Pentecost Novena
Day 6 – Wednesday, May 20
Proclamation: Jesus gave his whole life to do all that the Father asked of him. Now Jesus calls me to do the same. He sends the Holy Spirit so that I can be “consecrated in truth.”
Scripture: John 17:17-19 excerpt from the Gospel Reading of today’s Mass
Jesus said, “Holy Father . . . consecrate them in the truth. Your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, so I sent them into the world. And I consecrate myself for them, so that they also may be consecrated in truth.”
Praise and Prayer:
“Awesome in his sanctuary is God, the God of Israel; he gives power and strength to his people.” from responsorial psalm, Psalm 68
Heavenly Father, you are an awesome God! I thank you for giving me the power and strength to do your will.
Worship the Lord:

Called to Greatness: Read the above Scripture one more time. Did you hear what Jesus said? He said that we can be consecrated in truth. To consecrate something means to set it apart for a very important and holy reason. So God has set you apart for a very important mission. You are called to be a person who knows the truth and lives the truth. So get to know Jesus better today (because he is the Truth)!
Novena Prayer:
Come, Holy Spirit!
Symbols of the Holy Spirit: The Seal
A seal, called sphragis in Greek, was used in ancient times to mark one’s name or symbol on a letter or other important object. When a person is baptized or confirmed he receives the “seal” of the Holy Spirit to show that he belongs to God.
